HP Envy 4520 is a multifunction printer. It supports duplex printing. It can print documents and photos from multiple devices like tablets and laptops. It provides a quick and easy setup from the smartphone, tablet, or PC. It supports wireless connectivity which makes it even more convenient to be used with smartphones.
It can be used to print, scan, or copy quickly and easily with the 2.2-inch (5.5 cm) display- a 2 creep monochrome display with buttons for navigation. It also saves paper and conserves resources—use up to 50% less paper with easy, automatic two-sided printing. HP Envy 4520 Connection Modes
1. HP AUTO WIRELESS CONNECT :
While using this mode of connection its not required to type the system SSID or password. It automatically connects.
- Download the product software.
- Ensure the product downloaded is compatible with the printer type and the computer OS.
- Select the network type.
- Click on Yes, send my wireless settings to my printer, and begin installing.
- Select the option ‘Auto Wireless Connect’ and the rest of the process will continue itself.
- During the process, the PC will be briefly disconnected from the web.
2. WIRELESS SETUP WIZARD :
- Download the product software.
- Check the compatibility of the software with the device and OS.
- Select the network type.
- Select Yes and send my wireless settings to my printer installing.
- Power up the printer.
- Search for the control board on your HP printer, which is the LCD screen with buttons and icons, and here is the place you’ll put your printer into service for the next few minutes of your life.
- Before starting with setup ensure that the name (SSID) and password (WEP/WPA) of the system are available.
- ON the control board of the printer you’ll discover a Setup button.
- Pick the Network menu.
- Click on the wireless setup wizard.
- Select the wireless connection name.
- Enter the password.
- Following this, the printer will be connected with the network.
Test the wireless connection
Print the wireless test report for information about the printer wireless connection. The wireless test report provides information about the printer status, hardware (MAC) address, and IP address. If the printer is connected to a network, the test report displays details about the network settings. To print the wireless test report :
- From the printer control panel, touch “Wireless”, and then touch “Settings”.

With Wi-Fi Direct, you can print wirelessly from a computer, smartphone, tablet, or other wireless-capable devices—without connecting to an existing wireless network.
Guidelines for using Wi-Fi Direct
- Make sure your computer or mobile device has the necessary software.
- If you are using a computer, make sure you have installed the printer software provided with the printer.
- If you have not installed the HP printer software on the computer, connect to Wi-Fi Direct first and then install the printer software. Select Wireless when prompted by the printer software for a connection type.
- If you are using a mobile device, make sure you have installed a compatible printing app.
- Make sure Wi-Fi Direct for your printer is turned on.
- Wi-Fi Direct can be turned on using two modes:
- Automatic mode: Allows any mobile device to connect to your printer.
- Manual mode: Requires mobile devices to be confirmed at the printer control panel before they can connect to your printer. This mode provides increased security. Additional prompts or PINs are required before the connection can be established.
- Up to five computers and mobile devices can use the same Wi-Fi Direct connection.
- Wi-Fi Direct can be used while the printer is also connected either to a computer using a USB cable or to a network using a wireless connection
- Wi-Fi Direct cannot be used to connect a computer, mobile device, or printer to the Internet.
To turn on Wi-Fi Direct
- From the printer control panel, touch (Wi-Fi Direct).
- Touch “ Settings “, and then touch to turn on Wi-Fi Direct.
- Touch “ Back “. The Wi-Fi Direct Details menu appears with the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.
To print from a wireless-capable mobile device that supports Wi-Fi Direct
Make sure you have installed the latest version of HP Print Service Plugin on your mobile device. You can download this plugin from the Google Play application store.
- Make sure you have turned on Wi-Fi Direct on the printer.
- Turn on Wi-Fi Direct on your mobile device.
- From your mobile device, select a document from a print enabled application, and then select the option to print the document. The list of available printers appears.
- From the list of available printers, choose the Wi-Fi Direct name shown such as DIRECT-**- HP ENVY-4520 (where ** are the unique characters to identify your printer), and then follow the on-screen instructions on the printer and your mobile device.
